??? — An exploration of the unknown

What exists before a question becomes an answer?

What changes when the observer becomes part of the system?

??? is an evolving environment where mathematical structures become landscapes, patterns become motion, and destruction becomes another form of transformation.

Here, fractals reveal structures within structures. Fourier series turn simple oscillations into complex forms. Recursive rules create worlds whose behavior exceeds the apparent simplicity of their beginnings.

Nothing breaks without an act of intention. What is broken attempts to become whole again. What is broken again reveals finer structures, descending toward scales where ordinary perception begins to fail.

The world does not offer a final answer. It offers a space in which to observe, question, intervene, and discover.

You are not simply watching the unknown.

You are changing the conditions under which it appears.

Click anything to break it: a crack, shards falling into the abyss, its code written beside it; it mends, slowly. Click on nothing to call the shards back. Paused, click anything to see the rules that make it, and change them. Keys: space pause · b break what is nearest the middle · a call the shards back · f follow · r reset view · Esc close

Round the circle, all drawn in code: Leonardo’s square of proportion and scale from his sheet of the Vitruvian Man (c. 1490); the flower of life and Metatron’s cube; circles after Ramon Llull’s Ars brevis (1308), the Sri Yantra, John Dee’s Sigillum Dei (c. 1582), Ptolemy’s epicycles, Ezekiel’s wheels and Robert Fludd’s cosmic diagrams (1617), without their lettering; casting circles of invented runes, in the manner of anime’s magic circles; a Penrose tiling; and the heavens as drawn in his day. The world, before · the circuit board, before.

The world remembers what you broke, looked at and changed — for this visit.
